Birding PNW (beta)
A downloadable game for Windows and macOS
Birding PNW is an educational game in development for school groups and outdoor educators, meant to compliment standard-aligned studies in watersheds, salmon, etc. through a focus on native birds. The first level is a creek setting with 12 birds (and 15 visible native plants). Click them with the mouse to hear their calls, and answer questions about their ID with the number keys to learn bird tidbits and see high-definition photos. Birding is being developed by Nathan Mead, a former outdoor education intern with the Nisqually River Education Project, and current watershed restoration worker with the Northwest Watershed Institute. He would love your feedback in order to continue strengthening the game!

Install instructions
MAC OS -- Hi friends, the Mac version requires a permissions work-around because the app isn't yet notarized by apple-- otherwise it tells you the file is damaged and should be thrown away. Here's the fix:
1 - Download and unzip BirdingPNW(Mac3.27.23).zip
2 - Open your Terminal app (cmd + space to spotlight search "terminal," or navigate there manually: Applications > Utilities > Terminal)
3 - Copy everything between the following quotations "xattr -d com.apple.quarantine " including the space after "quarantine." Paste this into Terminal and do not yet hit enter. Then drag and drop the unzipped "BirdingPNW(Mac3.27.23)" file onto Terminal, and press enter.
The game will run now. Please reach out for any assistance ❤️🔥🤘🦆
